ANNUAL CONFERENCE

PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION. VARIOUS REMITS PASSED. Business was resumed yesterday unde* the chairmanship of Mr Dwell"- McGregor. Matters appertaining to the official organ received conside’ation, the report of the managing executive indicating that the circulation nad largely increased and that the paper was in a strong position. llearty thanks were accorded to the Rev. George Aldridge, who had rendered valuable service as editor* to the contributors of literary articles, and to tho Wanganui committee for their successful management. In view of the important matters to bo settled in the near future the council pledged itself to adopt a scheme under which it is proposed to increase the circulation to a four-fold extent. The special finance committee on’ group levies to the central fund reported. Under tho cssessments which were endorsed by the council it is expected that tho extraordinary requirements of the present election year viU be forthcoming. Consideration of remits were dMkfc with, and the following adopted:—"That the council represent to the Government the necessity for: (a) Educating the democracy in the principles, history and traditions of the British Empire; (b) in the principles and dates of citizenship in order to counteract the pernicious teachings of those who inculcate disloyalty to the fiag and Empire, class hatred and international cosmopolitanism, deriding the principles which furnish foundation for and brought pros, perity and progress to our Empire." '‘That Parliament be requested to take action to debar men convicted of sedition from sitting in the legislature and to deport disloyalists and revolutionises, convicted as such.” "That the activities of the V P-A. be extended through vigilant committees/* “That all available sources of information be employed covering a period from 1014 to 1921, in order to secure full information of those in pwssession of firearms/* “That the Dominion executive elialfnave power to veto tho appointment of any group officer deemed undesirable/* ‘That this Dominion council of the.
