COMMUNISTS NOT WANTED
BRITISH LABOUR PARTY REFUSES AFFILIATION. ANTI-SOVIET MOTION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received June 29, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 28. The Labour Conference, on a card vote, rejected a resolution to admit the Communist Party- to affiliation, by 3,087,000 to 261,000. Mr Hodges, speaking on the resolution to affiliate with the Communists, said people who proclaimed communism in this country were intellectual slaves of Moscow. Not only would Communists not be admitted to the Labour Party, but their theory of government must be fought by tho party. Mr Ramsay Macdonald stated that itwas imperative for the party to tell tho Communists “whatever your activities are you cannot belong to ns.” Tho voting received great cheering. Mr Cramp moved a resolution dew nouneimz the Soviets’ treatment of tho Social Revolutionaries. 'He said the Soviet had violated the best instincts of humanity, and had hindered tho progress of Socialism and democracy throughout the world. The resolution was carried with a few dissentients, who denounced the attempt to discredit Lenin and the Soviet.
