TRAMS HELD UP
DISLOCATION AT HATAITAI. Owing .to a. broken wire at the Hataitai end of the tunnel, the tramway traffio from Kilbirnie and Hataitai was dislocated yesterday morning. The trouble occurred at a quarter to 7, when one of the first cars through the tunnel encountered the break. This break in itself was not very serious, but later on complications occurred through a trolley pole on a car from town becoming entangled with and snapping a sagging wire on tho incline between the end of the tunnel and Turnbull’s store. A repair gang was soon upon the soene, and repairs were rapidly made. Until about 11 o’clock, when repairs to the wires had been completed, a service was maintained between Lambton Station and the Hataitai end of the tunnel, and meanwhile people from South Kilbirnie, if they preferred not to walk to the tunnel mouth, had to travel to town via the Constable street route.
