A motion of sympathy with the relatives of these gentlemen was carried. Mr W. W. Blakemore, late of the Royal Air Force, is at present on a short visit to his relatives in Canterbury. During the war Mr Blakemore was attached to the 29th Training Squadron at IletforcT, England, with the rank of flight-lieutenant, and he had a share in the training of many New Zealand. He is now on the staff of the Shaw-Eosf Aviation Company, in Melbourne. The death occurred, at the age of of Mr Richard Harman, at one time best-known boatbuilder. The late Mr Harman went to eea as a youth, and was at one time a seaman on tha Royal yacht Victoria and Albert. ITe was a leading seaman on the warship which Viscount Jellicoe first joined as a midshipman. He won the Royal Humane Society's certificate for saving life. He was an enthusiastic and skilful bowler and was president of St. John’s Club, Wanganui. Mr John Murphy, a pioneer of the Wairarapa district, passed away at his residence, Rima street. Miramar. The late Mr Murphy, who was 86 year* of age, arrived at Melbourne sixty-seven rears ago in the ship Queen of the Beas. and a vear later came over to New Zealand. ' He spent practically the whole of hi* life in Featherston, where he was engaged in farming. He took a prominent part in local affair*. He was one of the founders of the co-operative dairy factory in Featherston. At a rare » meeting held on the occasion of the Duko of Edinburgh's visit many years ago, he won two heat s on a horse named Recruit. Air Murphy, who was predeceased by his wife some twelve year s , is survived by a grown-up family of twelveeight eons four daughters. Advice has been received of the deaV of Mr William Francis .St. George, which occurred at hi* home at HereVio, South WcstLand. Tho late Mr St. George, who was 33 years of age, was a son of Mr and Mrs D. vSt. Georgs, a retired chief postmaster of Invercargill. Mr St. George, who was a member of the loth Canterburv Reinforcement and saw four years of active service, was wounded at- the Somme during tho retreat. On returning to the West Coast lie took up farming, at which occupation he remained till his death, which occurred most unexpected*y ps a result of heart trouble, due To war service.
