NEW LAND DISTRICT

EAST COAST DEVELOPMENT. The Government has decided tc create immediately a new land district, to be called the Gisborne Land District. Ol late years there has been a steady development of the East Coast, and land settlement has progressed to such an extent that it hac* been found advisable to create the new district and thereby relieve the procure on tho Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Levi Boards. The Auckland land district has of late years boon very much curtailed ; first by the creation of the North Auckland land district, including Auckland city, and now by the loss of a large area surrounding Gisborne.
