THE SCOW HAERE
PROSPECTS FOR FLOATING. From information received at Auckland the prospects for refloating the scow Haere, which is at present stranded on the beach in the vicinity of Cape Araria van Dieman, appear to be favourable, although at present it is quite impossible to obtain any definite information regarding this matter, as no reply has been received as yet from the party w:ho have left to investigate the position. A telephone message stated that the wind in the vicinity is westerly, and that the sea is calm. Weather conditions appear to be entirely favourable to the refloating of the scow. If the report of the party at present investigating the position is favourable, arrangements will at once be made for the Haere to be towed off.
