MAJOR BLAKE’S FLIGHT
ARRIVAL, AT BRINDISI. EXPERIENCE OVER VESUVIUS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 27, 11.45 pjn.) LONDON, June 9f. Major Blake telegraphs from Brin, dial: “Arrived here from Naploa travelling via Foggia in order to avoid the mountains as far as possible. On the way we encircled Vesuvius, flying through dense clouds of, sulphurous smoke which nearly choked us. We badly ‘humped’ when flying over . the crater, at times rising and falling five or six hundred feet. Wo crossed the Appennines at a height of ten thousand feet. The machine is flying well. We are all fit and glad to he moving at last.”
