WEATHER PROSPECTS.
(By the Government Meteorologist ) Present indications (4 p.m. yesterday) are for variable and strong -winds, but decreasing southerlies giving place shortly to freshening northerlies in and southward of Cook Strait. Weather cold and changeable, with scattered showers in tho East Coast districts. Barometer unsteady in the north and falling soon in the south.
