EIGHTEEN DAYS FROM NAPIER. SCHOONER CORONATION'S ORDEAL. After a tempestuous passage of 18 days from Napier, the schooner Coronation, 85 tons, arrived at Wellington yesterday morning at 9.45 o’clock, with her hull strained and her cargo of Maize from Whakatane donsiderably damaged. The schooner Bailed! from YVhabatane 84 days ago—May 30th — at 7 a.m., with a cargo of maize for Wellington. She had fine weather until 4 p.m. on the following day, when an easterly gale was encountered with heavy rain apd high seas, which lasted till the 3rd inst., the vessel labouring heavily, though ho g-eat amount oi water came aboard. During this stormy spell the Coronation was under close reefs. On June 4th the schooner met a heavy southerly gale and heavy head seas, which continued until Cape Kidnappers was passed, on the sth instant. On the next day a strong south-westerly gale with head seas and heavy rain squalls rendered matters unpleasant again. It was found, on the 7th dnst., that the schooner’s bull was badly strained, so she was headed for Napieir, arriving there on the morning of the Bth inst. The Coronation resumed her way from Napier at noon on the 15th, and bad light, fair winds tall passing Oaipe Kidnappers, when, she ban into a south-easterly .gale with high seas and thick drizzling rain. These conditions lasted till the 18th inst., when they moderated. On the 19th inst. another gale smote the vessel, but moderated at midnight on the 20th. Cape Palliser was rounded at 5 p.m. on the 22ndi inst., and on the morning of the 23rd a strong north-westerly gale was encountered which continued till last Sunday night. During this gale the Coronation went backwards and forwards between Cape Palliser and Cape Campbell. On Sunday night a southerly breeze brought the vessel up to port. The Ooronatiosn will pay off her crew to-day, and it is probable she will he put up to auction later on.
