FOR THE BLIND
PEARSON MEMORIAL FUND. The aim of Mr Clutha Mackenzie and his committee is to raise the sum of £45,000 in New Zealand for the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund, “'Rich is to be administered for the benefit of the civilian blind. The case of the civilian blind has been v'oA strongly stated by Mr Mackenzie from the public platforms throughout the Dominion, and it is hoped that his eloquent appeal will be heeded by all who believe in the old saying, that charity begins at home. It is not tho intention of the promoters of the fund to pamper the blind in any way. but meiely to help them to help themselves by establishing a home, where the sightless may be taught useful trades, and even professions. Wellington’s quota to the fund has been set down at £4500, and the committee confidently depends on the generosity of the public of Wellington. Thoughts of the days of darkness spent by tho sightless cannot fail to arouse some feeling of pity in the hearts of everybody, and this pify can surely be expressed, in no better way than by a generous donation to the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund.
