BIBLE) CLASSES COMPETE. The first series of basket-ball contests, held in connection with the Bible classes in the Wellington district, took place on Saturday afternoon. Three teams from Wellington and one from Lower Hutt visited the Petone ground, where some interesting games were played. Brooklyn’s match with St. David’s (Petone) resulted in an easy victory for the latter team by 34 goals to nil. St. David’s also proved victorious over Knox {Lower Hutt) by 14 goals to nil. The visitors were afterwards entertained to afternoon tea by the local players. Miss Johnston (Wellington) was the referee.
