j HEMP, WOOL, AND FRUIT. LATEST PRICES RULING. The High Commissioner’s official cable, dated June 24th, contains the following:— "Hemp—Manila market firmer, "O’ and “H” grades, June-AugUßt shipments, sold early this week for £33 per ton, and later “G" grade at £34 per ton and up to £34 15s per ton. New Zealand spot offered at highpoints £3O per ton, fair £29 per ton, but no transactions reported. Better demand from Amerioa, and it is reported that moderate business has been done in fair, £2B 10s to £29 per ton, July-September and August-October shipments. “Wool—Sales continue with somewhat better competition, but crossbred still irregular, and prices show no improvement. “Fruit—About 250,000 cases Australian fruit discharged this week, prioee range from 2s 6d to 8s per case. The consignment of fruit by Zealandic, with the exception of Stunners, wasty and several varieties has had to be surveyed. Earlier varieties, such as Jonathans, London Pippin, and Belicions are difficult to sell on account of shrivelled condition, and are meeting strong competition from English soft fruit. Sales so far only moderate. "Current prices are.—Stunners, 10s to 14s per case; Ballarat, 11s per case: Washington, 8s to 10s per case; Rokewood, 12s to 13s per case: Statesman, 11s to 13s per case; Jonathan, 7s to 10s per case. “Greater wart still unsold and considerable fall in prices is likely to occur. Rome Beauty, 5s to 11s per case. Balance of varieties still unsold, and may not find very sympathetic market next week.”
