LARGE FAMILIES
PENSIONS PROPOSED IN NEW SOUTH' WALES. By Telegraph.—-Press Assn. —Copyright. SYDNEY, June 2. , It is understood that a Bill has been drafted, to be presented at next session, providing for pensions for large families where, the income of the \ wageearner is insufficient to maintain the children in a reasonable standard of comfort. It is expected to add £250,000 a year to the expenditure on relief. (Received! June 2, 7.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 2. The Government’ u family pensions proposals do not aim at the endowment of children os proposed by the late Government undeir the motherhood endowment scheme. The principle guiding the present Government in regard to child endowment is that the obligation to support children primarily belongs to the parents. There are, however, many cases of parents who, owing to large families -and: comparatively small earnings, are unable properly to support their offspring. The bill is designed to meet these cases.
