WELLINGTON GAS CO.
NEW MESS ROOMS AT MIRAMAR. The Wellington Gas Company, Ltd., has just completed the erection of most up-to-date messrooms for its employees at Miramar, and the opening of the rooms took place last evening, when there was an attendance of about 160 employees. During the evening about 2000 feet of film were displayed showing the new Glover-West vertical rotary system in action, and. a descriptive lecture given by Mr Frank Kennedy, manager for West’s Gas Improvement Co., in connection therewith, was mcuh appreciated by those present. After witnessing i the pictures the employees partook of a splendid supper served in the mess rooms, during the course of which Mr M. J. Kennedy, the Gas Company’s general manager, addressed the men and declared the rooms open. Mir L. Glover, secretary of the union, who was present, remarked upon the splendid facilities which the Gas Company’s directors had provided for its employees, and congratulated all thereon.
