FIRE ON THE DEVON
A SECOND OUTBREAK, The Federal office advise that the fire which broke out on the steamer Devon, at Lyttelton, waa subdued early - yesterday morning. Tho discharge of tho coal in the bunker was proceeded with, and after examination the surveyors wero then of the opinion that thore was no apparent damage to tho hull or cargo. Advices subsequently received by the Wellington agents were tci the effect that tho fire bad broken out again in tho after end of the starboard bunker, and that the' discharge of coal was proceeding under difficulties.
COAL BUNKERS EMPTIED
PER TRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 31. In- connection with the fire in the Devon’s bunkers, it was reported this morning by the vessel’s agent that tho bunkers had been emptied, and that after examination of the hull fresh bunkers will _ be loaded.
