TRACK WORK AT ELLERSLIEI In a thick fog and with the going on the heavy side, some interesting track work was witnessed at Ellerslie on Tuesday. Before breakfast Raceful and Marble Slab galloped when it was possible to see the rises, running a mile in 1.51, finishing together. Scion and Printemps left six furlongs behind in 1.21 2-5. Birkenella easily beat Blissfulness ovot six furlongs in 1\25 3-5. Mangamahoe pleased better than Golden Bubble in a five furlong sprint, which took 1.9 3-5. Broad wood moved nicely over six funlongs, which he traversed in 1.21 2-5. Merry Times was going bettor than Pino Arch at the finish of six furlongs, run in 1.23 4-5. No Surrender, Coalition, Old Geld, and Strathglass comprised the next lot. All got safely round, though Coalition hit the second fence on the hill hard and; came down on his knees, to recover cleverly. The first-named trio were in a bunch over the stone wall, with Strathglass half a dozen lengths away. Totara Jack and Explorer, after their mishaps, wore sent over the fences on the fiat, which they negotiated without mistake. Waimai and To Rohae finished the schooling, doing a round: over the hill, the pair getting round) safely, Waimai giving a good display of jumping.
