INTERSTING GALLOPS

TRACK WORK AT ELLERSLIEI In a thick fog and with the going on the heavy side, some interesting track work was witnessed at Ellerslie on Tuesday. Before breakfast Raceful and Marble Slab galloped when it was possible to see the rises, running a mile in 1.51, finishing together. Scion and Printemps left six furlongs behind in 1.21 2-5. Birkenella easily beat Blissfulness ovot six furlongs in 1\25 3-5. Mangamahoe pleased better than Golden Bubble in a five furlong sprint, which took 1.9 3-5. Broad wood moved nicely over six funlongs, which he traversed in 1.21 2-5. Merry Times was going bettor than Pino Arch at the finish of six furlongs, run in 1.23 4-5. Bitholia and To Akitai were on terms at the end of a five furlong sprint in 1.8 3-5. To Kuri and General Advance wore companions over six furlongs, which took 1.23 1-5. Boomerday and No Bother were together, with Prince Carl a little over a length away, at the finish of a similar task in 2.2 2-5.

Prince Abbey alone strode over seven furlongs, the last six taking 1.26 2-5. Callow lndra. and Marble Bell were together at the completion of a task over seven furlongs, the distance taking 1.33 2-5. . Election was just in front of Done at the end of a six furlong gallop, the last five of which was covered in 1.7 3-5. Miss Gold did a similar task, the last five taking her 1.9 1-5. ■ Arch Salute spurted the last three of four furlongs in 41) 2-5. Glen. Canny pleased better than Royal Present over six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Loyal Irish and Golden. Dream sprinted five furlongs, the last four taking 54 1-5. ' White Blaze andi Stork did strong work, spurting home three furlongs in 43 2-5, the letter going easy alongside his companion at the finish. Poteen sprinted the last four furlongs, taking 55 1-5. Chimera and Kilreid were associated over six furlongs, the task being registered in 1.23. Killard alone traversed a round in 2.3, finishing well. / Fisher ran away from Lady Glissae over five furlongs, run In 1.9 3-5. Haligan and Jolly Princess were on terms at the end of a five furlong sprint in l.lfl 3-5. Right and Left and Karamu were the last pair timed, a five furlong sprint taking them 1.16 3-5. THE JUMPERS. The brush hurdles on the hurdle track, the open hurdles on the outside of the course proper, and the eteepechase course oyer the hill were available, and a lot ot schooling work was witnessed. Passin' Through and) Voluble were sent over six brush hurdles. They jumped well until the fifth flight was reached, when Voluble came to grief, Passin' Through completing the course alone. The work registered over the open hurdles'was very interesting, and wa6 as follows: Gladful and Ladioguer were the first pair out, being sent a task over five hurdles, both fencing well and finishing together. , ' Poanui, alone, did a similar task, andafter hitting the first obstacle hard, gave a good exhibition of fencing, and finished well. Hushman, Flowing 80-wl, and Crowhurst were companions over five hurdles. The two former made the pace in company, and the trio fenced well until the last obstacle was reached, when Flowing Bowl came to grief. Hushman finished) a couple of lengths in front of Crowhurst. Ornahu had Hyttus as a companion over five hurdles, but the. latter was pot much use to the Great Northern, candidate, which jumped well and finished) nearly a dozen lengths in front. Blue Cross and- Bezant wont over five hurdles. The former, after nearly stopping at the fence by the six furlong post, improved over the others, and- had) a shade the better of the gallop. Royal Prince, Battleplane, Walton, and Piopio were in that order at the end of task over four furlongs, which all negotiated safely. Alteration, which promises to start favourite for the Great Northern Hurdles, had Simonides to accompany him over five hurdles, but the latter did not fence at all kindly, and had no chance with Alteration, which galloped and jumped in great style. Snake, John Bunny, Master Boris, Bastport, Never Despair, and Totara Jack were sent over the big country. The last-named was not in a generous mood, and tried to shirk his task early, . and eventually stopped at the brush fence, near the mile post, and lost his rider at the second attempt. Never Despair camo to grief at the first fence on the top of the hill, and finishing over the stone wall Snake and John Bunny were together, followed by Master Boris and Eastport. , _ , Kohu, Hygmas, and Explorer follow, ed, Hyginas being pulled off after jumping the fence on the flat. Explorer got to the first fence on top of the hill, when he camo down, and Never Despair, which was remounted, joined Kohu, and the pair finished together over the stone wall. ... No Surrender, Coalition, Old Geld, and Strathglass comprised the next lot. All got safely round, though Coalition hit the second fence on the hill hard and; came down on his knees, to recover cleverly. The first-named trio were in a bunch over the stone wall, with Strathglass half a dozen lengths away. Totara Jack and Explorer, after their mishaps, wore sent over the fences on the fiat, which they negotiated without mistake. Waimai and To Rohae finished the schooling, doing a round: over the hill, the pair getting round) safely, Waimai giving a good display of jumping.
