A letter was received from the Rugby Union, informing the committee that Mr Love had been selected to represent the New Zealand Maoris in the team to tour New South Wales. It was decided to congratulate the player. The City Council notified the committee that the council had granted the union permission to make a charge for admission on the Basin Reserve on the following dates during the present season, as arranged with the other winter sports bodies: —June I7th, July Ist, Bib, and 29th. The council stipulated that they would collect 20 per cent of the gross takings, and arrange for the ticket sellers and gate attendants, the union to hear the cost. The union to pay the cost of advertising the charge of admission . The Otago Rugby F.U. wrote confirming September 9th as the date for the representative match Otago v. Wellington, at Dunedin.

“This is a matter which has been up and down the cards for years,” said the chairman, Mr Prendevulle, in raising the question of whether the Referees’ Association should have representation on the management commiittoe- He suggested that the chairman of the Referees’ Association be asked to attend' the meetings of the committee. Of course, they could have no activo position at the meetings, but he considered they should at least have representation. He moved that the chairman of the association be invited to attend the meetings in an ordinary capacity.—Carried. PONEKE WANT MORRIS. A deputation, headed by Mr King, and representing the Poneke Club, waited upon the committee in an earnest plea to have “Snowy” Morris reinstated. It was not that they required his services, said the spokesman, as that they considered he had been treated rather harshly. After several members had spoken, it was decided to refer the matter to the New Zealand Rugby Union for "favourable consideration.” CLASHING OF FIXTURES.

As a reason justifying the action of the Union in not postponing the championship fixtures on the day of the AuckLandrWellington match and the Australian "Soccer” representative match, on Tune 3rd, the chairman stated that the seasop of Saturdays was all too short to play the required number of games. Another factor which militated against their action in this respect was that their overhead expenses had totalled approximately .£BO weekly. In fact, a general postponement was a serious matter when viewed from the aspect of the Union’s point of view.
