EVENING SESSION

“GOOD WORK ACCOMPLISHED.” At tho evening session of the league, with Professor W. Henderson Pringle, of Dunedin, in the chair, the report of tilo committee for the constitution of the Dominion Union was submitted and passed unanimously. In connection with necessary propaganda, the chairman then suggested several tasks to be performed by the respective Dominion branches, referring also to tho very great importance of good and plentiful literature for, effective distribution. A BOOKLET PUBI.TSHED. The question of publishing a monthly booklet was then considered, as also was the offer, from the central office of the league in London, of films representing the actual formation of the League ot Nations and the league at work. To purchase these films it was resolved there should be a special effort made by all the Dominion branches, it being conceded by all the members present that no more effective method could possibly be devised for obtaining publicity or for placing before the whole country the advantages of a numerous membership. SCHOOL HISTORY. The matter of finances was then taken up, various suggestions for raising funds being .fully discussed. It was also decided that means should be found for a better enlightening of the pupils of the Dominion schools on all matters intimately connected with the Empire’s history »ud history in general. The feeling of the meeting on this point was that the citizens of to-morrow should be instructed at an early and receptive age. This matter was referred to the policy committee in Dunedin, with instructions to approach the Education Department and secure some satisfactory amendment of existing methods of history study in the schools. FINE WORK ACCOMPLISHED.

- Before the close of the meeting, the Rev. R. Ingiis (Wellington) spone of the excellent work accomplished by the conference at its present session. Ir had, he said, made some very great strides, and he hoped that next year’s annual meeting would have to be held, not in the Council Chamber, but in the main hall of the municipal building. He exhorted the various delegates to persevere in the glorious work they were only now commencing. VOTES OF THANKS.

Dr. Gibb (Wellington) then moved a hearty vote of thank to the chairman for his fine work in connection with Dominion propaganda, an equally hearty vote of thanks being accorded to tho union’s honorary secretary, Mr D. Colquhoun, of Dunedin.
