UNREGISTERED SCALES
CHINESE FINED AT WANGANUI. PER PRESS ASSOOIATION. WANGANUI, May 29. Sam Lee, a Chinese vendor of vegetables, was fined £5, with costs, hy the magistrate, Mr Wilson, on a charge of having a spring balance that was unregistered. Inspector Johns stated that Lee hawked vegetables from house to liouse and used scales registering half a pound short weight. The magistrate said he was pleased a prosecution of thie kind had" been instituted. There was necessity for increasing vigilance in respect, of travelling vendors of goods. It waa a shame that pool working neople suffered" through the rascality of these people. -The inspec tor intimated that a numbei of similar cases would follow.
