The figures showing the Imperial, Australian and Canadian applications were as given below, while there should be included in the total one application from a South African and one from an Italian, making the total 226:

The chairman (Mr L. O. H. Tripp) drew tho attention of the committee to the large number of cases dealt with by the local association. A large proportion, he said, had of necessity been turned down. The secretary said that possibly Zo per cent, of the applications received from men who had served with the forces of other Dominions had been declined. ’Mr William Ferguson pointed out that the work attended to in Wellington constituted practjcally half that of the Dominion.
