THE DAVIS CUP
PRELIMINARY ROUNDS TO BE PLAYED IN EUROPE. Australian .and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received April 26, 6.6 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 28. After hearing several petitions for a change of venue, for the preliminary/ rounds of the Davis Cup, the commit-’ tee decided to abide by the original lecommendations and have as many rounds played in Europe as possible. The committee believes that ten of tbs fourteen competing countries can plaj in Europe. (Received April 26, 7.46 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 25. The United States Lawn TennM Am eociation has cabled Australia suggesting that the team travel to Europe to play the preliminary Davis Cup match. Hie same suggestion was made to Cknada. It is now believed that the latter will default in its match with France, being unwilling to undergo the expense of the European trip. It it also thought that Hawaii will forfeit to ihe Czechs for the same reason.
