FIVE MILLION LOAN
SUBSCRIBED TWICE OVER FAVOURABLE COMMENTS IN BRITISH PRESS. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER The Prime received yesterday a cablegram, dated April 25th, advising him of the following details in regard to the flotation of the £5,000,000 loan, issued at 5 per cent, at par:— List closed this morning. Total subscription, ten millions. Five thousand applications received, of which those up to £IOOO were allotted in full and the remainder 40 per cent. Press comments consider the terms are excellent for Dominion, and os result, 0 war loan and colonial stock prices much appreciated. Mr Massey said to a “Times” representative last evening that he had no further statement to make in regard to the loan He expressed gratification at its having been subscribed twice over; but, m reply to a suggestion that it was a pity that he could uot have taken the whole ton millions, he declared that that would have been suicidal.
