NATIONAL EXECUTIVE. MONTHLY AIEETING- ' The monthly meeting of the executive of the Y.AI.C.A. national committee met at the headquarters office yesterday. There wero present— Alessrs H. AY. Kersley (chairman), W O. Herr.ery, J. C. Port, W. H. Denton, C. M. Luke, W. H. George, C. R. Edmond, G. W. W. B. Hughes, A. Varney and General Richardson. Apologies were received from Alessrs J. Caughley and L. Birks. . THE LATE IV. M. HANNAY.

Appreciation and sympathetic reference was made to the work of the late Air W. Al. Haimay, who was a member of the national executive during the war, and the following minute recorded:—“Tho Y.M.O.A. national executive places on jecord its appreciation of the valuable services rendered by the late Mr W Al. Hannay during the period of the Great War. His business ability and his deep interest in the welfare of the New Zealand troops, and his keen desire to help forward the association’s ministry erf helpful ness, were all evidenced in his solfsacnficing work. This executive desires to extend its deepest sympathy to the members of his family and his friends.’! WORLD'S COMMITTEE

It was reported that Air A. F- Carey, of Christchurch, who is en route to Great Britain, had agreed to represent the New Zealand associations at the plenary meetings of the world’.committee at Copenhagen, August 2nd-stli. FOREIGN WORK REPORT. Alatters in relation to the extension work of the New Zealand movement in Hyderabad, India, were discussed, and associations recommended to urge foreign work clubs to raise their missionary quota at an early date. s - VISITTNG DELEGATIONS. Correspondence from various centres indicated that Mr J. J. Virgo’s visit had done much to inspire and consolidate local effort. Y isits in the near future aro probable from, prominent association leaders in India, China and U.S.A. A visit early in 1923 is expected from Fred. B. Smith, and H. N. Holmes. AIEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN. A preliminary progress report was presented in connection with the membership campaign in April. Ten associations will be engaged in a competitive effort to raise tho association membership 20 per cent. A shield will be awarded the association reporting the biggest percentage increase on Alay Ist. EDUCATIONAL WORK. The report presented indicated that the educational programme at some of the larger centres was well in hand for the winter work. Special courses in salesmanship and public speaking •were being organised. The’ whole educational movement was being conducted in conjunction with tho United Y.ALC.A. schools of North America, where over 160,000 students were enrolled under Y.M.O.A. auspices. The report stressed the importance of the home study course movement, and a special committee, consisting of General Richardson yeomveuer), Air J. Oaughiley, M.A., the Hon. G. At. Thomson, -aml the Hon. Geo. Fowldh, was appointed to report on its promotion per medium of tho -local-,associations of the Dominion. FINANCE REPORT. The hon. treasurer (Mr W. C. TtTemery) presented the report of tho finance committee, which was adopted. Departmental accounts -were passed for payment. The audited annual statementsof income and expenditure and 'balance-shoot were adopted, and ordered to he printed for circulation. The budget for the year ending December, 1922, was considered in.detail. It show- '■ ed an estimated' deficit of £829 10s. i Tho thanks of the national committee were recorded to tho auditors, Alessrs Jas. Kollow and Son, F.P.A.
