MORNINGTON CLUB SUCCESSFUL OPENING OF SEASON. The opening of the Momington Club’s 1922, season, which took place on Saturday last, was favoured with most pleasant weather, which was the more appreciated as the morning appearances Betokened rain. Mr R. W. Shallerass, whose eSorts on behalf of sport are well known and who, has taken on the duties and honours of captain, mads a few well-chosen remarks welcoming all members and visitors, golfers or otherwise, and opened the season by driving a good ball from the first tee. The event of the afternoon, a mixed foursome, was then' entered upon and was won by Mrs Hawson and Mr Howard ifrith a very oreditable score. Putting competitions wore then indulged in, Mrs Hawson proving the winner amongst the ladies and Mr J. ■ T. Bowness amongst the men. The day terminated with refreshments, which were dispensed in their usual pleasing way by the ladies of the dub, Under the direction of Mrs Hawson, the Ladies’ Club’s captain, and Mrs Whitehead, the secretary. JOHNSONVILLE CLUB SATURDAY’S OPENING. « The Johnsonville Golf Club opened its season on Saturday under favourable weather conditions. The course was in good order, and there were about eighty players on the links. A mixed foursome match’ was, won by Mies Man till and: Mr Harding, one down. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs W. Wallis and other ladies of the club, after which. Mr Hedward, vice-president, presented the prizes won during last season.

MIRAMAR CLUB OPENING OF THE SEASON. The Miramar Golf Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon in perfect golfing weather. A very large number of members and their friends and visitors from other clubs were present. The links proved to be in good condition, and gave every indication of reaching a much higher state of efficiency during the season. The opening match —a mixed foursome —was well contested by about sixty players, and proved a most enjoyable game. Some very good cards -were returned, the successful competitors being Mi6s Carter, the secretary of tho Ladies’ Club, and Mr C. W. Palmer, who finished, alt (square with bogey. Much regret was expressed at the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr J. P. Firth, and the club’s captain, Mr A. E, Mabin.
