Carlton defeated Masterton by 57 runs on the first innings. Carlton compiled 281 and 59 (Styles 17, Burch not out 10) Masterton made 224 (Collins 108, Prosser 27, Kerr 22) and 6 for 115 (Collins 26, Hallam 28, Wilson not out 35). United 173 and 1 for 17 beat Carterton 90 and 99 (Smart 58).
HIGH SCHOOLS MATCH WAITAKI AND TIMARU DRAW. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. OAMARU, March 19. The annual inter-school cricket match, Timaru Boys’ High School V. Waitaki Boys’ High School, was played on Waitaki ground on Friday and Saturday and ended in a drawn game. Waitaki in the first innings made 75 (Sumpter 19, Levin 12, Mercer 12). Alison took four wickets for 35 and Slade four for 39. Timaru replied with 173, nearly every player scoring double figures. Abbott took four wickets for 38, Blundell 11. two for 50, and Blundell I. two for 8. Waitaki in the second innings made 215 for eight wickets, Denys Sumpter scoring 111. Other double-figure eoorers were Elliott .18, Searle ’3, Blundell I. not out 26, Smith not out 25. Ellis and Allison divided the wickets.
