Tho Kapiti Island Advisory Committee—Mr W. H. Field, M.P., Dr Cockayne, Professor Kirk, and Messrs Arthur Seed, E. Phillips-Turaer, J. L. Bennett, O. Gray, and G. H. M. McClure, Commissioner for Crown Lands ■—are to leave this morning for a week-end visit to Kapiti Island, with a view to studying on the spot the conditions prevailing and what is needed to make the island as nearly as possible a perfect sanctuary for native bush and native birdß. The Minister for Lands, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie, was to have accompanied the committee, but pressing departmental business unfortunately precludes his doing so.
