ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
MEETING OF COUNCIL IMPORTANT MATTERS DISCUSSED. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, held last evening, was presided over by Hr C. B. Fordham, there being also present Messrs C. F. Ward, F. Campbell, A. Mcnzies, J. M. Olliver, H. I. Graves and B. L. Salmon (hon. secretary), AUSTRALIAN TOUR. The secretary reported that- guarantees of the extent of - *£6so had been foiwarded by affiliated associations and that another <£2oo would shortly be available from the Wellington Association; tfiis would be sufficient- for immediate requirements for steamer and railway faros. it was, therefore, decided to immediately cable the New South Wales Football Association to say that the finance was in order, and asking if the Australian authorities haji completed all arrangements for Sending the team. The Wellington Football Association wrote in connection with the Jform of guarantee, and the secretary reported that, he had made a satisfactory arrangement with the officials of this association concerning same. • The Iluddart - Parker Stearrtsnip Company forwarded a list of approximate sailings to and from Sydney, and this, together with letters from Weetland, Taranaki, and Canterbury Associations concerning tho arrangements of matches in their resfcecjive districts was referred to the itinerary committee (Mcssts Fordham, Campbell, and Salmon) for report. Mr Olliver and the treasurer and secretary were appointed a sub-committee to report on the question of transport and advertising, and tho possibility of handling 5 the whole of these matters over to firms interested in same. It was decided to appoint «t the next meeting of the council soveral sub-committees to handle, various matters in connection with the fiour.
INCORPORATION OF ASSOCIATION.
On account of the finance and liability to be incurred in connection with this tour, the council decided that in order to take the liability off the members personally tho association shall be registered under the registered Incorporated Societies Act, and it was de cided that affiliated associations should be immediately advised of this procedure. This will mean that the rules will have to bo reprinted and the various machinery alterations necessitated by the Act included, arid the secretary was instructed to proceed with this at once. VISITS OF OVERSEA TEAMS. The secretary reported that at the last meeting of the Commonwealth Football Association the question of receiving a team from England in 1923 was discussed, and a suggestion, was made that the total expenses, £IO,OOO, could be appropriated as follow:—New Zealand, New South Wales and Queensland, £2OOO each; West Australia, £1500: Victoria. £1000; South Australia and Tasmania, £750 each. It was generally conceded that the information desired from the Football Association, London, was too incomplete to accurately compute the cost of the tour and it was finally decided that a sub-committee 'consisting of Messrs Barlow; and Lukeman should prepare details of the actual cost of the tour of an English team, prepare itinerary of tour, obtain definite proposals from New Zealand re tour, and allot amounts of guarantee expected from each State. It . was further decided that the Football Association be asked by cable to send a team to tour the colonies, and the terms in connection with same.
