, !l;'' TEAMS FOR AUSTRALIA. , a TKO SELECTORS’ CHOICB. The lawn tennis team which is to represent New Zealand at the New South Wales championships in Sydney on April 28th and subsequent dates was selected yesterday. The team is to consist of four ladies and six men. but in case certain players are unable to make the trip the selectors have chosen two additional ladies and one extra man. The players selected are as follow: Ladies’ team —Miss Nancy Curtis (Wellington). Miss Marjorie Macfarlane (Auckland), Miss M. Payton (Auckland), Miss Zeta Wellwood (Hawke's. Bay), Mrs C. .1. Marshall (Auckland), and Mrs N. P. Green (Hawke's Bay). Men’s team—Hr J. T. Lanrenson (Waikato) and Messrs G. Ollivier (Canterbury), J. C. Peacock (Wellington), A. W. Sims (Waikato), E. L. Bartleet (Auckland), R. N. K. Swanston (Wellington). Emergency, P. G. Greenwood (Canterbury). The selection,. it, Is believed, will give general satisfaction, as all members of the teams are championship players, capable of putting up a good, hard game. The teams will leave for Australia on or about April 13th. Miss Curtis has held tile New Zealand ladies’ singles championship for the last two years. Miss Macfarlane is an ixdoubles champion. Miss Payton is a regular competitor at the Dominion championships, and holds the singles championship for Taranaki. Miss Wellwood is the present holder of the Hawke’s Bay provincial championship. Mrs Marshall has several times been runner-up in championship events, and appeared with E. L. Bartleet in the semi-final of the last combined contest, while Mrs Green (nee Miss Hartgill) is an ex-oombined doubles champion. The first man in- the men’s team, Dr Laurenson, secured a sensational victory over Ollivier at the recent Dominion contests, and holds the singles championship of the ■ Dominion. Ollivier held the same honour in 1911. 1914, and 1919. Peacock is' a very prominent player. Sims distinguished himself the other day by defeating Swanston at Dunedin, and, with Bartleet, was a member of the team

which represented New Zealand against the New South Wales touring team last year. The first occasion on which Greenwood achieved championship honours was when he played in the doubles with Goss.
