REMARKABLE SCENES
POPLAR GUARDIANS LOCKED IN. UNEMPLOYED IN ANGRY MOOD. tiatnlur .-*1 N.Z. Coble l.ewiatlca. (Received February 7, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, February 6. There were remarkable scenes at a meeting of the Poplar Board of Guardians. A deputation of unemployed threatened to look the guardians in if their demands were not granted. There was a heated discussion which tasted several hours, the chairman pointing ont that the guardians had not the power to levy the rate. The deputation later carried ont its threat. The guardian*' were still under tod* and key at midnight.
