the Wellington association. THE FINANCES OF THE BODY. The executive of the War Belief-Asso-ciation of Wellington, met yesterday. Mr C. M. Luke presided, and others present were Maseru A. Macintosh. J. Lewis, A. Veitch, J. Mclntosh. C. Watson, R. I. F. Aldrich, and D. McLaren. It was reported that the expenditure for the month had been £1249. and the inoome £367. The credit balances at the bank at September 30th were said to total £1278The investments were: —Public Trustee, £29,000; banks, £14,000; Post Office Savings Bank, £757; Wellington City Council, £2335; total, _£46,093. The total available funds as at September 30th were set out as follows:—lnvestments, £46,093; current accounts, £1278; petty <cash, £2O; total, £47,892. The finance committee reported that in the last month it had dealt with thirteen applications, each exceeding £SO in value. Five new applications involved a total of £llls (farms £555, business £SOO, house £6O), One (business £500) was declined, as the applicant is suffering no war disability whatever; another (form £300) was deterred for a report from our bankers; the third (erection of residence on a farm £200) was approved (grant £IOO, loan £100) because the case was an exceptionally good one, and the fourth (twioh considered) was granted, authority being given to a Crown Lands Ranger to purchase the dairy farmer’s requirements at a cost of £55, as a loan to. the applicant. It was resolved; “That it be left to the discretion of the finance committee to award loans, priority of consideration to be extended to cases of war disability in view of the increasing number of applications for relief of distress." It was resolved to ask the Minister to come to an early decision regarding the position of the War Funds Council in respect to the question of assistance to Imperial and Allied soldiers who have applied and are still applying to the association for relief-
