MURDER OF OLD COUPLE NEAR AIELBOURNE.

Ev Telegraph—Press . Asep,—C'qpyrisht_ AIELBOURNE, September 14. The Crown Law Department has abandoned the charges of murder against King and Jenkins, who were arrested in connection with the murder of Mr and Mrs Sheard at Beaconsfield on June 12th last.

A most revolting crime was perpetrated at a farmhouse at Beaoonsfield, near Melbourne, on June 12th. The Sheards, an elderly couple, were found murdered in their v beds, the discovery being made by a neighbour, who, becoming alarmed at the fact that the old couple were not about as usual, entered the house to investigate. It was apparent, that the Sheards had been attacked while they lay asleep, pud there were indications of the old man having grappled with the ~ murderer. On the day prior to the tragedy Sheard deposited a goodly sum of money in the bank, but the house contained little of value. The affair remained a complete mystery for a time, and at length the two men referred to were arrested.
