DISPUTED PATENT RIGHTS
ELECTRIC W'ATER HEATER. On Saturday the Registrar of Patents gave his decision in a ease of much interest to persons connected with electric-heating installations. An application for patent No. 44503 was • lodged by David Webb, of Tauranga, plumber, for an improved electric water heater. The application was opposed by Lloyd Mandeno, borough engineer, Tauranga, on the ground that ho, and not the applicant Webb, was the true inventor, and that before tlje date of the application for a patent, the invention had been publicly used in Tauiranga. The registrar decided the ease on th© latter ground and refused Webb’s application with £ls loe costs. At th© hearing Messrs Baldwin and Ray ward appeared for the applicant, and Messrs Higgs and O’Donnell for the opponent.
