GAS CO. DEBENTURES
AMOUNT OVERSUBSCRIBED. - AMOUNT RAISED IN TEN DAYS. That money is still able to bo raised in the Dominion on loan, despite the ruling financial stringency, is shown by thp fact that the Wellington Gas Company, which made the announcement about ten days ago of its issue of £350,000 of 8 per cent, mortgage debenture stock, ha® closed the period for the receipt of applications. Of the total amount £250,000 was applied for public subscription, and the interest that has been displayed in the company’s offer is apparent from the result achieved. It was decided at a meeting of,the board of directors of the company yesterday that applications on offer to the public should be dosed forthwith, as the amount actually required by the company had been fully subscribed.
