YESTERDAY’S SITTING. POLICE PROSECUTIONS. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided at yes* terday’s sitting of the Magistrate’* Court. Three first offenders for drunkenness were accorded the usual lenient treatment. _ . Mary Johnston, conflicted of being an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient means of support, was cent to gaol fox' three month*. _ William Woods, for his fourth offence for drunkenness, was fined £l, in default three days’ imprisonment. George Alexander,. Johnston. on hie first offence of drunkenness, wa* fined 53 and costs, and on a further charge of obscene language £1 and costs. A youth of eighteen years, Leonard Gremlin, appeared to answer a charge of having received £3 5® from Isabel Arcourt and failing to account for thi# sum to Charles E. Mullis. On the application of Sub-Inspector Willis, he was remanded to August 4th. Four men, Arthur Millward, Arthur Holmes, Alfred Wildman, and Thomas Stevenson, were charged with attempting to secrete themselves on board the Port Napier and go to eea. When the vessel was leaving fox'* London yesterday morning. ©aid Sub-Inspector Willis, the men hati been found on board by the constable searching the ship. The four men, who explained that they had been out of work and gone down to the ship in the hope of securing jobs, were convicted and discharged. CIVIL CASES. Judgment in default was given by Mr E.. Bright was ordered to ipay Mandel and Carr, Ltd., the sum of £24 19s 6d forthwith, in default twenty-four days’ imprisonment, the/warrant to be suspended if £lO is/paid immediately and the balance by instalments of £5 per month. TENEMENT GASES. Francesco Monopli was granted an ord°r for possession of the tenement at present occupied by Mr© J. Monkhouse. Costs £3 Is 6d were allowed plaintiff. Ellen Ashton is to deliver up a tenement to Samuel Ftree immediately. Judgment was entered for plaintiff for rent, £35 7s 3d, and costs £4 Is.
