“RUINOUS TO FARMERS”
KILLING AND FREEZING CHARGES. A motion was recently adopted by the Otago and Souitihland. Farmers’ Unions stating that the present charges for killing and freezing stock are ruinous to farmers, and asking that the freezing companies' should join with them in a strong effort to get the present scale of charges and wages reduced. They recognised that under present conditions the existing chargee are justified, but these must be reduced if the industry is to be* placed on a sound footing. This matter is to be considered at the Dominion conference now sitting at Wellington.
