THE W.E.A.
POSITION AT PALMERSTON NORTH. THE REWARD OfIgHHSCRETION. (Special to “Times.”) The Workers’ Educational Association, Palmerston North, made an application to this week’s meeting of the Palmerston North Borough Council for a renewal of the subsidy. The application stated: “That the tutorial classes committee recommend that the council advise the bodies concerned that Mr Marsh-Roberts had no authority to voice the views of the W.E.A. either in hie letter to the local Press or in his remark© about the Palmerston North Borough Council at a meeting of the W.E.A. in Levin; that the Opinion expressed dealt with party politics, definitely excluded from W.E.A. work, and that Mr MarshRoberts had, therefore, been reprimanded for his breach of the rules of the W.E.A. Councillor Eliott moved that the letter be “received.” This- was seconded by Councillor Lancaster, who said that the council had refused to continue the subsidy on account of Mr Maxsh-Rob-erts’s statements. From the present discussion it looked as if other grounds were being raised. He would like to see the whole matter disposed of. The letter was “received.”
