WOMEN IN BRITAIN
SURPLUS OF TWO MILLTpy, SOCIOLOGISTS ANXIOUS. United Service Telegram. (Received July 25, 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 25, The census has disclosed a surplus of two million women in Britain. Sociologists, prominent public workers, and church dignitaries are all grappling with the problem involved. Professor Patrick Geddes considers that unless situation is tackled in time the nation will be faced with social debasement worse by far than any previous social disaster. Miss Barker, Director of the Women’s Training Employment Committee, suggests training for full independent life as the only remedy.
