ALLEGED FORGERY
ARRESTED IN SYDNEY. ACCUSED REMANDED. Bertram Burwood, alias Esmonda Catere, who was brought hack from Sydney under arrest by extradition by the Manuka on Sunday, appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Burwood was charged with forgery, or in the words of the charge, “with altering a genuine document, a cheque jdrawn upon the Commercial Bank of Australia, for the sum of £8 10s to £BO 10s.” Burwood’s age was given as 22, and his occupation as taxi-driver. The police have intimated that accused is wanted on similar charges at Auckland and Whangarei. On the application of Detective-Ser-geant AndrewSj he was remanded to August Ist-
