THE BOXERS’ STRIKE
GISBOBNE APPEALS PALL. t 0 r PFFBS A9AOr:iATtO!t. CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. At a meeting of the New Zealand Boxwig- Council to consider an appeal by thirteen amateurs against their suspension by the iGisborne Boxing Association •for refusing to box at the association’s competition, it was decided that the appeal be dismissed, as no appeal lies on a question of fact. It was further decided that in the council’s opinion, cxn the admitted facts, the action of the Gisborne Association was strictly in accordance with the ‘principles -regulating the conduct of the sport.
The Gisborne watersiders have passed a resolution of protest o*n the Gisborne Boxing Association’s treatment of the amateur boxers concerned in the recemt dispute. The resolution is framed on the- lines of that originally adopted by the Freezers’ Union.
