"I feel that the work I have on hand ia too much and too "great," said Councillor W. Cotton, at last night’s meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council, when tendering his resignation. “I have sent no less than five resignations in to-day, and had I known the state of affairs at the time of the election I should not have sought re-election. Owing to.* continued sickness in my family, I am unable -to devote the necessary time and energy to Yny work as a councillor. Should the council be prepared to grant me three months’ leave of absence, as I do not desire to create a bv-eleotion, I shall accept it." Councillor Mitchell moved in this direction. and Councillor West seconded the motion. It was unanimously resolved to grant the councillor three months* leave of absence meantime. * A Press Association message states that the Gisborne Harbour Board has set up a committee to make arrangements for the installation of a wireless plant at the signal station. At Gisborne (says a Press Association telegram) Leonard O'Neill was fined £3O for watering milk to the extent of 15 per cent.
