SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS
iNNUAL MEETING ON SATURDAY
At the annual meeting of the Wei. linigton Society of Musicians, held on. Saturday evening at the Dominion Farmers' Institute, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr Horace Hunt; vice-presidents, Messrs Robert Parker and Temple White; council, Misses Adelaide *van ktaveren, Gladys Watkins, and Eileerw Driscoll, Messrs Laurence, Watkins, and Hamilton Hodges; hon. secretary, Mr W. J. Robbins; 'hon. treasurer, Mr CourtneyGreer; hon. solicitor, Mr R. Herbert Webb; hon. auditor, Mr H. J. Rowley. After the annual meeting an "invitation evening" to the musical public or Wellington was given, about 140 ,heing present. The president explained the future policy of /he/ society, stating that it had been decided to run a series of three public concerts, each evening to be devoted to a special composer. The first of these is to be Greig and the, second Algar; but the name of the third! has not yet been fixed. A short explanatory lecture on the composer chosen will first be given, and the remainder of each evening will then be devoted to selections, both vocal and instrumental, from his works. N The following excellent musical programme. was given:—Violin solo, Miss La uri Anderson; songs, Messrs Reginald Blow and Hamilton. Hodgee; pianoforte solo, Mr Horace Hunt: instrumental items, Mr H. -H. Tombs' string quartette. A number of subscribers were enrolled after the meeting. __
