THOKNDON CLUB. TIIE ANNUAL REPORT. In presenting the 26th annual report and statement of accounts for the year ending .May 31st, 1921, tbe directors of tile Thorndon Bowling Club take pleasure in the highly satisfactory state of affairs disclosed therein At tbe close of the financial year there was a credit balance m the bank of J£33 19s 2d, after paying the current .expenses of tile club, and also tho interest and rates on the freehold green. It was expected by tbe officers of the club to have had the affairs of the freehold green settled*, up before the close of the year; but, unfortunately, this could not be arranged in time, but will be very shortly. However, the members of the club would see by the balancesheet that there would be ample funds to meet all liabilities in connection with the sale of the green, and have a balance to credit of the club for the ensuing ydar The membership of the club was practically the same as last year, the number of new members balancing tho number jf resignations.

I ho green committee gave details of the year s operations, and after acknowledging the good work of the caretaker (Mr liters) and Messrs Sladdeu, Pavitt and Dyctt (surveyors), concluded by saying:— 'Members can look forward with every confidence to having a really good green for next season's play, as the present indications show that the grass-seed has taken well, and the tjreen never looked better at this time of the year.” The match committee had much pleasure in submitting tho following report on the past season’s operations: Club championships: In the singles contest some very fine play Was witnessed, and the winner, Mr E. The winning rink—Messrs Nimmo, Macklin, Ronaldson and Dodds (skip)—are to be heartily congratulated on their - success. Pennant matches : The club, was fairly successful in its section. Interclub matches: About thirteen friendly games constituted tho programme for the season, and some very enjoyable afternoons .were spent, in visiting different clubs, and in receiving and entertaining the visitors. The contests were thoroughly enjoyed.
