SPANISH SENSATION
NATIVES' ATTACK MILITARY POSITIONS. NUMEROUS DEATHS Australian, and N.Z. Gable Association. (Received July 24, 6.5 p.m.) MADRID, July 23. A strong contingent of natives violently attacked advanced Spanish positions at Meiliila. It is reported that several hundreds of Spaniards Were killed and Wounded after a desperate struggle, which is continuing. General Syivestre, commander of the garrison, jg reported to have committed suicide. when he heard' of the disaster. Other reports state that he was wounded. King Alfonso is hastening from San Sebastian to Madrid. Reinforcements are being sent to M«lilla. ’ j BRAVE GENERAL KILLED. (Received July 24, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 23.
