PAHMEiRSTON NORTH’S EPIDEMIC DRAPERY PREMISES ON FERE. f»WR PRRf» ARSOOJATIOI*. PALMERSTON N., July 24. Palmerston North’® twenty-first fife in 1921 occurred on Saturday night in the premises of C. M. Ross and Co., Ltd., drapers, in the Square. The fire, the origin of which is a mystery, started in the millinery workroom upstairs . The brigade made a good save, preventing the spread of the flames to other wooden portions of the building. The millinery workroom was gutted, a large quantity of new season’® goods being destroyed. The damage in this department is estimated at from £3OO to £SOO. t The workroom’s contents were not insured. Water damaged the stocks in the ’boot department and the mein’s mercery and clothing departments to the extent of £BOOO. The insurance on these departments is £15,000.
