CIVIL SERVICE TOURNAMENT. The initial golf tournament arranged amongst the members of the Civil Service, wliiqh took place at th© golf links on Friday, proved a gfeat success. The weather was beautiful, the course in excellent order, and those participating in the games had a most enoyable togA medal competition was held in ' the morning. The following were amongst the best cards returned:

- A bogey handicap was held in the afternoon, jn which the Hon. i. G. Coates took part, he having been unable to play in the morning. The best card was returned by Mr J. L. Black, who finished three up with a handicap of one, which may bo considered a very meritorious performance, as a good stiff breeze had sprung up during the afternoon. The best cards were:—J.
