REIGN OF TERROR
GUNMEN AGAIN ACTIVE IN FITZROY. POLICE SUCCESSFULLY INTERVENE. By Telegraph—Press Ism.—Copyright (Received Julv 19, 9.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 19. After a break of two years there has been a repetition of cases of shooting, which caused a reign of terror in Fitzroy in 1919. A mob gathered in front of a house, at which they fired fourteen revolver shots. The police were quickly on the scene, and found only two men with revolvem in their hands. They were surrounded and arrested, and charged with attempted murder. It is stated that other gunmen decamped on hearing the news of the approach of the police. There were no casualties.
