THE OTIRA TUNNEL
FIRST PASSENGERS GO THROUGH. AN EMERGENCY ARRANGEMENT THROUGH SLIP IN GORGE. Per Press Association. GEYMOUTII, July 13. A slip in the Otira Gorge prevented the coaches from running ana the mishap became tho occasion of the first train load of passengers journeying through the Otira tunnel to-day in consequence of arrangements. Mr H. E Holland, M.P., made with the Hon. J. G. Coates, Public Works Minister. Fifteen were transported through the tunnel, only walking a distance of half a mile in the middle. A heavy sea is delaying shipping on tho Coast.
