THE BAIiANCE IMPROVING. A return showrn'jr a* under the total vaJ/ue of the imports into and the exports from New Zealand dtuning the sixending June 30th last, together wdth comparative figures for the first six months of 1930, was issued on Saturday bv the Minister for Customs (the Hon. W Dowmie Stewart): — 1920. 1921. Imports 24,136,674 28,190,867 Exports 22,824,872 27,204,807 Tbe figures disclose an improved situation for the first six months of this year as compared with the corresponding period of 1920. Whereas in the six months of 1920 imports exceeded' exports by .£1,373,802, the “debit” for the six months of this year has fallen to J3986,060. It is also worthy of note, that while imports have increased by .£3,992,193 in value, the exports value has improved by J 84,379,955. The latter improvement is of especial interest when it is remembered that there has been a fall in the price of everything- exported from New- Zealand except butter and olieeee, the prices for wthich recently receded. but recovered slightly owing to the drought in Great Britain.
