WELLINGTON CLUB. ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT. On Saturday everting, at Dustin’s cafe, the Wellington Rowing Club held its annual smoke concert. Mr Wilson occupied the chair. About one hundred and fifty club members and friends were present, and a most" enjoyable evening was spent. The usual toasts were honoured, including “The Wellington Rowing Club,” proposed by Mr Motlies, and replied to by Mr Symonds (club captain). During - the evening Mr Frost presented to the club the Bert Shaw. Memorial Cun for the club fours, to be competed for annually. Later, the cup was handed over to Mr G. Wilson, stroke of the winning crew, the other member of which were W. Reeves (2). G. Grace (3). G. Bright (bow;. Another new txophv presented was the Wilson Challenge Cup, for club senior pairs. The winning crew for the prize was G. Wilson, stroke; J. Thomas, how. All the speakers congratulated the club on its successful season, and also on its furtherance of the sport of rowing by allowing St. Patrick’s College the use of its boats. The hone was expressed that other clubs would adopt the other colleges, and that in the near future an inter-college event would be a feature of Wellington rowing regattas. Musical items were given by Messrs Tosci and Bitossi, and by several club ■members, including a Melody Quartette.

Amongst the guests were Mr Webb, brother of the famous sculler, and Air Corskie, the secretary of the Wairoa Rowing Club. A very pleasant evening terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
