DWELLING DESTROYED
BLAZE .AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Per Preen Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 11. A two-storied wooden house on Ma» ngarei road was completely destroyed by fire early this afternoon, and a child, ten months old, had a narrow escape. When the fire was discovered an alarm was given and a small fire engine dispatched from the. control station, , but the brigade could do nothing to stay the destructive progress of the flames as the house was out of the area served by. .the water mains. Within an hour only the chimneys remained standing. The house was owned hy Mr David Rea, who only recently retired from a farm in the Uruti district; Constable Parkinson was in occupation as tenant, arid a week ago the Reas moved iota the house. . There was a policy of £I2OO in the Yorkshire office on tho _ house and no insurance on Rea’s furniture, hut Par. kinson’s furntiure was covered by £l5O.
